(I swear like half the posts in this thread are me... I mean what's the deal with everyone? Do they all think they got all of the ideal sets and possible team combinations already? It took me a whole 3 months to master this game and with most people having less than 200 units there's no way everyone has experimented with everything already, especially with the newest changes! Gods! Nobody's perfect you know D: )

Me and Fal went through faye's current team in the FFA and figured we could make a uh... well... better squad of 6 units out of it (or more like, some of that and some other random characters that fit the bill), I guess. So faye, it's your lucky day because this one's for you Tongue

Pursuit/Insight or Wrath

This is basically a classic 7/7/7 lord except without bows. 30 Speed allows you to avoid Pursuits from Peg mages with 2wt weapons (and hit back with decent pursuits of your own), and 27 Luck avoids Insights from every non-Troub unit that isn't Fortuned and also allows you to make decent use of Insight yourself. 26 Skill avoids Wrath from weapons with more than 0wt (which is all you need to avoid Wrath from) and technically also allows you to make use of it as well. With 30 Speed, Pursuit will activate on anything that doesn't invest in Speed, and depending on whether you prefer safer hit rates or higher crit rates, you can go with Insight or Wrath as the secondary skill.

Counter/Impale or Wrath

Basically a magical def-tank, it has just enough HP to not be ORKOed by any magical attacks barring crits, enough Skill to avoid any Wrath from weapons with more than 0wt and a good defense to get reasonably accurate counters against frail physical units. Especially good against the likes of Insight Snipers, who have little defense but also little avoid. Impale or Wrath are usable secondary skills but you'll hardly use them over Counter anyway.

Your token bulky healer, this set aims to survive for as long as possible to perform healing duties for other party members. It survives most combinations of 2 attacks and even if the enemy decides to aim for it, he's likely to get Countered hard (no pun intended) depending on his choice of physical and magical attacks and your own skill.

Pursuit/Wrath

Since Bows had their mt nerfed by 1 this can now survive Heavy Silverpale and avoid Sharp Iron Wrath (which we want to avoid because a crit actually kills this set in one hit). However, be on the lookout for Insight Snipers and Valiants as they get pretty good hit rates against this set as it lacks Luck. Pursuit is the main skill since with 35 Speed, everything other than Peg mages can and will be Pursuited. Wrath is an okay secondary skill if you have to aim for a crit to kill something in one or two attacks where Pursuit isn't enough or you actually can't Pursuit because the opponent is a peg mage itself.

Insight/Pursuit

Troubadours are one of the best units out there because they can perform two jobs: Healing and Insighting. This set maxes out Luck so that threatening avoidy 30 Luck units (*cough* Seraphs *cough* Peregrines) can still get hit reliably... to an extent, anyway. This could also be a Holy Knight but as long as you don't double on Axes and thus leave yourself really vulnerable to Swordmasters it's fine.

Insight/Wrath or Impale

When Fortuned this'll Insight anything that isn't Fortuned itself or a Troub, although Pegs that don't invest in Luck will get Insighted anyway, and if you do catch something that invests in Luck you can always try to Wrath it, which gives pretty damn good crit rates given that this is a +15% crit class. Alternatively you can use Impale to try and one-shot Pegs with a Silverpale or something, but it's situational and really easy to build against, so I'd recommend sticking with Wrath anyway. also forges are expensive as hell

Edited it in, I wanted a Luck one because I originally used a Lunar build and lol Skill on Lunar promotes, before I switched to a Gale build and forgot to switch to Skill.

could go 54 hp/26 skl if you're super paranoid about heavy silverpale. in which case, the 2nd skill could very well be Wrath instead. At that point, packing a Maelstrom/Thoron or sharp fenrir/bolganone would be handy.

Hello. I am new here. This game interests me. However, being new, I am probably pretty bad at it. So I will kindly listen to you guys rip apart why these builds are bad. Thank you for your time. I also apologize for not realising that I necro'd the post on the other forum.

My idea with this was to have a somewhat tanky staff user that will probably not enter combat but if it needs to it isn't flimsy. I'm unsure if I really need the skill since they will probably not enter combat often, and instead may need more power, so please enlighten me if you will.

I mostly liked how having a viking sounds, but I am also a fan of the anima/axe combo. My build for it is probably bad, however, as I did not realise it had a low power cap, but I would like to use one regardless. If anyone could enlighten me to a more efficient build, I will kindly listen.

From my late night reading of guides and tinkering with the stat calculator, I came up with this. It is also probably not very good, but my idea was a hit and run Archer. I'm not sure if this can actually come into fruition. But the prospect sounds titillating to me. If it can work, please let me know.

I was looking at the unpromoted weapons that my team had and they lacked physical weapons besides bows. I also wanted to round out the promoted and have a light user. Lances are also my favorite weapon type in the games. I don't know if I need to invest in skill if I use insight, although I probably do.

More physical weapons for unpromoted. I also wanted a unit to buddy up with my healer. I like how tanky these guys get.

That's what I have come up with. To me it looks good, but then again I am not sure of what I am actually doing. There are certainly a lot of intricacies involved in building a team. I tried to think of a general strategy, and build around the RPG classic of tank, DPS, and healer. Also all of these were built with generics in mind, but one of them has to be a lord. I'm not quite sure which one will benefit more with the added lord stats. If you have any ideas, I will gladly listen. Thank you again for your time.
There's a serious lack of magic power on this team. I'd consider replacing one of the mage fighters with a Mage/Monk/Shaman ->Druid/Bishop/Sage if not Solar/Gale/Lunar kn to the staff promotions because you are also very low on staves (preferably the latter because your have a severe lack of mounted units as well) You can also try one of the new wyvern mage units that can promote to mounted versions of dread fighters/vikings etc. 2 staves to a 6 unit team is kind of the minimum for efficiency. As for the low power caps, those units that have them have bonuses, such as your mage fighters being able to freely attack a foe's res or defense and effectively nullify counter/aurora. Skl is actually useful for status staves accuracy if you're looking for a unit to throw out debuffs.

Be sure to use the stat calc so that your hawk archer can survive a Rienfleche (w/31pow), the dreadfighter has useless spd investment as it won't do it any good (it's still going to get pursuited by everything) send 1 point to res and 1 res (along w/that remaining spd) into hp. Be weary that having too low pow can leave your team vulnerable to impale/Aggressor.
Thank you for your comment. The mage fighters seemed like cool classes, but perhaps for another time. I took your suggestions into account and thought of three (technically four) new builds that might shore up the team. These would replace the Viking, Dread Fighter, and Zealot.

After taking out the Dread Fighter, I knew I needed some dark. Also some offensive power until the team is fully promoted. I couldn't find the right generic stat spec, so I opted this one for a lord. Didn't know what to do with the last point so I dropped it into luck. The mount gained on promotion is also nice.

For the last one I built a Heaven Knight, then realized I would lack unpromoted offense (I could probably still do it, although I am not sure if it is better.) So I also tinkered with a Gale Knight build. Which do you think would service better in the long run?

And I also messed around on the battle calculator and, with 8 defense, a 31 power Reinfleche needs two hits to knock out the Hawk Knight, if I did it right. Thank you again for your time.

I actually literally had to go look up what the hell a Sacred Kn is lol... but well, they do function basically like a Zealot but don't get that extra 5% crit. In my opinion you could totally switch it to Brute nature instead of Heroic to get 26 Skill (avoids Wrath) and 26 Speed (still avoids other Pursuits, you can still Pursuit most things that can be Pursuited, and you can choose to trigger opposing Pursuits and counter their attacks twice if you choose to use Counter).

Wraith lord can be taken out really easily by magic+possible Auroras so I'd suggest going either full-on glassy or tanky. Because I'm nice I'll even give you builds for both!

The latter is still a really frail build but you have a much better chance of avoiding Auroras and you can still do basically everything your current build does including hitting, dodging (but somewhat better especially since you can avoid Insight from everything bar Troubs which deal a grand total of zero damage), sponging physical hits and dying to books.
That being said, your team is incredibly weak to magic. The only thing that can really go up against other mages without taking tons of damage is the Skyfire Knight (I'd suggest the Heaven promote for extra HP+Res btw) and you have a grand total of one bow user at the moment. Therefore I'd change the Hawk Knight to a Valiant (aka the res-tanky Sniper - because you really need something against magic) because you can't hit and run with mounts here - however, you can with foot units. You still have 3 other mounts at this stage, so that's not a reason to worry about.

Another thing you should change is turning that General into a Corporal for the obvious reason of bows. Sure the other weapon is nice to have too but you already have a Sacred Knight and Protector for Lances anyhow, and you want Bows so you can attempt to hit Pegasi. Stat spread seemed fine I guess, not like you're going to shove that thing anytime with over 9000 Con lol

Lastly I'd change the Protector build as well so you can get a more dedicated healer. The best thing to do is either make it a Nihealer (i.e. using Nihil as the skill for survivability) that promotes from Pikeman (because Curate promotes can't dual tank anything worth a damn) or replace it with a bulky Cleric promote. Build time again!
