Shad was unsure about this. Cecily was considering the Lausian guard expendable. These are the same men that would have to defend Laus when they install her as the reigning lord. But on the other hand, this isn't the same situation as he had. Shad was always the legitimate heir to Daren and Faustus was the usurper. In this cause, Cecily is the usurper. He doesn't even know if these men would be loyal to Cecily even if they spared all of them. That's why it was important that the Marquess and his son both die tonight. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This feels hypocritical of me.
Shad had to ignore his doubts. There was a fight to be had. Shad drew the schiavona and charged. A Lausian soldier thrust his lance at Shad. Shad deflected the lance with his left arm, covered in his new armor. He then leaped and stabbed into the soldier as he landed. But the soldier had turned away from the thrust. The soldier threw a punch, hitting Shad in the face, creating some distance. The soldier dropped the lance and drew a sword, as they were too close for him to use his spear. He swung at Shad who parried who blocked the blade and punched the soldier with the basket hilt of his sword. He followed up with a kick before thrusting into a gap in his armor. He retracted the sword, but the soldier was still standing. The soldier came in swinging, but Shad had parried and thrust the sword into his jaw. The soldier dropped, but in doing so pulled the sword right out of his hand. Shad thought to act fast. He reached for a clasp on his waist and grabbed his fire tome. He turned towards the other guards and shot a fireball at the nearest soldier.
