Shad directed his sword at Rollo, barely keeping steady as the knight readied himself to attack. Rollo noticed Shad's grip was pretty loose, as could be expected from someone as beat up as he was. Before Shad could even begin his approach, Rollo lunged and disarmed him, knocking the sacaen sword far away from Shad. "You were saying?"

Shad looked at his hand, feeling the sting in his hand at the impact.He blinked a couple of times. Then he just zoned out completely. Everything was fuzzy and that insistent ringing was back. Shad's eyelids became lead and he began struggling to keep them from closing. He began dozing off while standing.

"Pup? You there?" Rollo asked, geniunely concerned. He caught himself caring about him, but being able to look up and see Daren was more or less the cause of this change-of-heart. He didn't want to kill the boy, just make him see the error of his ways. And maybe make a profit selling him to Lycia, but he needed him alive either way. He swung down hard on the ground, hoping the sudden noise would snap Shad out of it.

Shad instantly snapped out of it and reached into the coat and took out what Grey had told him about. A magic tome, with a lightning bolt etched into it. It must belong to Wolfram or Maria. He opened the book, but let go of it. It began to hover in front of him, held there by magic. Shad opened it to a random page, read the chant under his breath and held his hand out towards Rollo.

A magic circle formed under Shad and he began feeling a charge in the air. Rollo realized he was in danger and began to run away. Bolts of electricity came out of the ground, as well as forming around the cover of the book. The bolts then concentrated over Shad's head and arced right towards the suit of armor with Rollo in it. Rollo tumbled to the ground, his armor black and charred from the heat of the concentrated lightning. His body was twitching, but not under his own power.

As for Shad, the tome fell to the ground at the end of the spell and Shad fell after that. Before he hit the ground, he heard the cracking sound of thunder. He began crawling towards the entrance, hoping for help.

Back at the inn, Taika managed to wake up Maisie and the began heading to the castle. They knew people were going to need healing, starting, they think, with Maisie.
