Cecily noted Satsume's disapproving look in response to her mentioning that she had been following him and silently made a note of it. There is a time and place for everything and now was neither the time nor place.
Although she had no reason to doubt Satsume's judgment or the truth of what he said about the inquisitor, Cecily was not one to trust an agent of the Church of Sanctity. The inquisitors were the people that formed the immediate threat against the Eight Republics. Not only that, but surely the Church would have been made aware of Cecily's own connections to anima magic through whatever Etruscan documentation survived the war of annexation combined with suspicions from her time in Etruria over a year before the war began.
"Do you trust him?" she whispered as they exited through the hallway's door.
As the two felt the trembling of wyvern flying low overhead, Cecily instinctively knelt down to steady herself. Not only physically, but mentally as well. Although it is not the first time Cecily has been in a fight, the un-muffled sounds of combat still rattled her senses. She understood that frequent exposure to these sounds would make it easier to tolerate the implications of the violence; nevertheless, she respected Satsume's ability to ignore it.
She did not realize that there were others in the hallway until Satsume's exclamation, which nearly made her jump. The Lausian noble slowly rose to her full height with the support of the wall as Satsume gave her a reassuring look. This "Shad" could still be a collaborator, but at least it's easier to accept his help than from one of the Church.
