The door opened again, much more soon that Cecily expected it to. She could still hear steel smashing against each other in the distance, so who would be looking into the bedrooms? She kept quiet, hoping not to be noticed as the man entered, making his way to the window. He closed and latched the frame shut. Considering that it was a Bernese soldier who would benefit from that open window, it's safe to presume that he is Lycian. But is he of the regular military? The armor suggests as much. Her questions faded as the night's moon lit the man's face enough that, when he turned slightly, she could clearly see who he was.
Her exhalation snatched his attention.
"Look, before you start, just know that I’ve been having a REALLY bad day, and you could not have picked a worse day to find me," he said. He reached out his hand to help her to her feet. "What are you doing here?"
Thank Elimine that it's Satsume.
"I cannot be that unpleasant to be with, Satsume," she replied as she accepted his hand. "First impressions aside, of course."
Meeting someone while dying from poison and hunted by Lausian assassins is admittedly not a pleasant experience. Neither is being surrounded by Bernese raiders and Imperial Lycian devotees locked in battle. But she knew better than to catapult more witty remarks than what the situation called for.
"I have been keeping tabs on your activities while I was away and I have been given the impression you found the librarian from the Pherae incident. Paige, was it?" she asked. The noble paused only long enough for Satsume to confirm her identity.
"More importantly, is there plan to flee this town?" Cecily inquired. As she asked, an image from earlier crossed her mind. "And who is that inquisitor?"
