In the lancer's effort to avoid the arrow, he left himself open to Paige. Paige sidestepped the blow and stabbed him beneath his right shoulder. The thin blade weaved underneath an armor plate, disabling the soldier at least temporarily. She kicked him aside and made a run for the stable. The wounded soldier attempted to go after her, but the monk let loose another bolt from his light brand, taking him off his footing. 

That was when the enemy caster made his move.

During the battle, the caster snuck along the walls, hoping to catch the escapees off guard. His gamble paid off: the caster took Friar Thomas by surprise and stabbed him with a dagger. The weapon was left in the monk's chest as the caster proceeded to cast lighting magic at Eli. The monk could only watch as he slumped against the wall.
