Ellie had heard just what she'd been hoping for and then some; but as the young man spoke of his past trials and his nobility, another voice joined the banter.
"You talk too much, pup,"
As the voice rounded the corner, a silhouette followed suite; the woman searched the guard and tended to the scene before starting on her way with little more to say - at this moment, the young man stopped her. Ellie turned to face him and listened carefully to her newfound friend.
"Can you fight? Let her know what you use and Cass will grab one for you."
"Sure can! You bring me a bow with some arrows, and I'm your guy! Eli Vael, the hunting prodigy!" she exclaimed with excitement, fists pumped and a wicked grin etched into her visage.
Cool it, hot shot - don't wanna scare them away while they're willing to have you!
Clearing her throat, Ellie composed herself and blushed lightly as she rushed to retrieve her pauldron and straps from the corner of her cell. As she did, the woman who questioned the monk spoke to the mysteriously lady, who apparently knew the young noble. In the next breath, she turned to Ellie and spoke calmly.
"We're forming a group known as the Vanguards. We weren't sure of our next goal, but I think we have a good idea of what needs to happen to end this"
"If we make it out of here alive, count me in!" Ellie became serious in that moment, preparing herself to take a stand - and in that moment, she felt a flicker of fear; then nothing. "Could I get that clasp back, ma'am?"
