While Paige was panicking about her sudden violent reaction towards the guard, the monk was quietly scratching upon the wall. Using the clasp was difficult as he scraped the stone wall, but he slowly revealed an 'A', then a 'n'. Eventually, he spelt out 'another'. The rough writing was starting to get to his wrist, but the monk only needed four more letters. He hurried to scribble down the secret. The scratching caught Paige's attention in time to see the finished product.
"Another heir," Paige read the phrase aloud. "Another heir to Ostia? To Lycia? Heh, that would make more sense."
Paige started pacing around as she pondered what this meant to her objective.
"The empire isn't burning books to hide the emperor. They're trying to hide his bloodline, the fact that he might have living relatives. One that could challenge him for the throne."
Suddenly, Paige saw a new goal, one far more important than documenting the history of the empire. Finding this person would rewrite the fate of the country. It would be history. But first...
"Search that soldier for the keys," Paige said to no one in particular. She was far more calm as she looked at the unconscious soldier.
"We need to get out of here."
