Paige immediately got off the floor and grabbed the clasp from Morgan. She then offered it up to the monk.
"Please...," Paige said to the monk, "we need to know what we're up against."
The monk stared at the wall, contemplating what exactly he could tell these young people. Footsteps were rapidly approaching; the guard was alerted by the sound of clanking metal. He couldn't exactly write a book with the time given. Then again, could his knowledge help them, or would it only hurt their cause? As he debated what to write next, the guard arrived at the cell.
"Don't you people ever sleep?!" The guard looked into the cell to see what was going on. He caught sight of the monk brandishing some sort of clasp. He didn't like what he saw.
"No graffiti allowed, old man. Hand it over." The soldier reached out towards the cell, waiting for the item to be passed along. This proved to be a mistake: it left him wide open for an attack. His hand was grabbed and pulled into the cell. As a result, his head slammed into the metal bars, knocking him out cold.
Paige had no idea she had that in her.
"I-I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking."
The guard laid in the hallway, waiting for the others to find him and act accordingly.
