Name: Selia Carnove
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Nation/Allegiance: Queendom of Eshre, off the eastern coast of Bern.
Languages: Eshren, Elibean Common (Ilian dialect)
Appearance/Description: Selia is of average height for a woman from Eshre, with bobbed pale-blonde hair and cold, lavender eyes (a distinctive trait for Eshrens). She has a wiery strength and an intense gaze. While she is not the most attractive woman to come from Eshre, she's far from being an eyesore, and the effort she puts into looking presentable (even in the face of danger) is noticeable.
Bio/Backstory: Any introduction to Selia Carnove begins with her home country. The Queendom of Eshre is a series of 14 islands off the eastern coast of Bern and Sacae. While the Eshrens had dealings with Bern as early as the days of Zephiel, they usually kept to themselves. Despite a rich history in magic, the Eshrens seldom put their powers on display, preferring instead to grow and distribute recreational herbs which may or may not have magic properties. Suckers as far as the Western Islands would still buy them, thinking that it would turn Bartre the Rock Puncher into the reincarnation of Athos the Archmage.
While the main language in Eshre is Eshren, those Eshrens who venture abroad often speak Elibean common. Their dialect is, interestingly, more akin to the dialects in Ilia than to Bern.
Selia and her twin sister, Salia, were born to Vogan and Meira Carnove on the volcanic island of Ceroll, the closest of the Eshren islands to Bern. House Carnove was not exactly a noble family, but to say they didn't act as if they were would be an understatement. As a result, Selia and Salia were both given exceptional training in magic from a young age. While both excelled in their studies, Selia was more determined, and often employed questionable methods (including one incident where she "accidentally" froze a dog in ice to observe how ice magic worked...).
Selia and her teacher took a voyage to Bern, intending to visit the royal library of Bern. It was in Bern where Selia learned about the exploits of Eliwood of Pherae and the undead "morph" (a name she found silly) armies of an evil arch druid. These stories fascinated her, not for their intended purpose. Selia wanted to know more about the druid, Nergal, and absorbed as much information as she could find (albeit, not much) about him, and his craft. She also wanted to know how he created an army from the dead. The idea of reanimating the dead excited her far more than the average 18 year old...
On the return voyage, however, the volcano under Ceroll had erupted, displacing the population of the entire island as well as one of the surrounding islands. The loss of life on Ceroll was extraordinary, with many of the Eshrens settling in Bern, bolstering the population of a town in coastal Bern called. Many in Selia's position would have mourned for days, or even done something as mindless as vowing revenge on a volcano. Selia, however,
Selia, along with her teacher, followed several of the Eshren refugees to the coastal town of Sanovar, in southern Bern. Sanovar was regarded highly among displaced people, or people interested in the vice trade. It was also becoming a popular hotbed for expelled (forcibly or not) Lycian mages. It was among those people that Selia would befriend.
While there she discovered one of her father's former employees, who had arranged living space for himself, and pried the man for information about her family. One heated argument later, and Selia had acquired the man's possessions (what little were left) and flat. While the constables did not immediately believe her explanation that the man had (literally) fallen on his sword, a few quiet evenings made some of those records disappear. Mistakes happen...
Selia remained a regular at several local Sanovar libraries and wizard hangouts, but to make a living, she did work a job in clothing repair in Sanovar, where she specialized in shoes. While that job didn't exactly pay well, she did excel in sweet-talking wealthy merchants into parting with money for an evening with her. If the merchants were more reluctant to spend their money on a pretty lady... she could find ways to make that money disappear.
Selia never forgot about Nergal and his undead creations... but upon hearing about them from a visiting mage from Etruria, Selia began to theorize how such morphs might be recreated... and decided it might be time to take some time off.
