The pain was tolerable, but this couldn't keep going on. As much fun he could potentially have, eventually, he'd be overwhelmed. They'd all be overwhelmed...except for...

He paused a bit, just now realizing Renata was next to him as he turned. "I'm sorry for handicapping us, but I hope you'll understand why." He sheathed his longsword and drew Dyrnwyn again. No holding back, after all, he thought. Until he looked at his cloak. The heavy cloak with the innerweave of chainmail definitely slowed him down, but he couldn't think of leaving it here. As much as it'll slow him down, it's one of the few material ties to his family. He couldn't budge on that yet.
