Discuss.

EDIT: more screenshots http://imgur.com/a/fNWVW

Also, FEPlanet is committed to adding information about the more recent FE titles, by the way, and I'll be getting someone to help curate information for FE:A and the new game.

Blue Haired Girl seems interesting, only other "main/good" looking char seemed to be a myrm/swordmaster w/blue-black hair '>.> (and a pink one)

I wonder if pair-ups will break this one '>.>

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - Lyon - 01-14-2015

From what I can tell from the trailer (not particularly used to the fonts):

-Myrmidon's name is Kazahana
-Peg. Knight's name is Hinoka
-The blonde lord with the black armor is named Max. Probably. (Maakusu, to be precise)
-The girl with the lacy hat is named Felicia. (Is she a maid? I don't know.)

Other observations:

-The giant looks like Zeus. Or Janus.
-Seeing a lot of Eastern aesthetics in architecture and costume design.

Speculation:

-This might be another RD-style plot, with different, rival player characters. (I say this because most of the gameplay footage seems to be the Eastern troops fighting the Western troops--of which Max appears to be the leader--but near the end of the trailer, there's a cutscene of Max fighting against a monster of some sort, like a scaled-down version of Big Ol' Zeus, suggesting that he's the true antagonist.)

>redhead pegasus knight
>a hawt maid

Welp, I'm liking this already.

Also, am I the only person who gets such a Ninian-esque feeling from the blue-haired chick?

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - Speedy - IX - 01-14-2015

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - thenoun - 01-14-2015

I'm cautiously optimistic. Let's hope they give it a less scatterbrained plot and characters, though. Awakening's cliche character-shaped lumps got old really fast.

The resemblance is uncanny, apart from the eyes. ELIBE SEQUEL CONFIRMED

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - Alusq - 01-15-2015

So hype. I'm loving the combination of Euro and Japanese medieval styles. According to some speculation, it's pretty likely that the Avatar is returning as well.
I too am hoping for characters who get characterised without pushing the personality dial completely in one direction and nowhere else. And playable soldiers, but that's a pipe-dream.

Lyon Wrote:-The blonde lord with the black armor is named Max. Probably. (Maakusu, to be precise)
My first guess is Marx, since Max would be Makkusu in kana iırc. Communist/Kirby Emblem confirmed?

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - Pura - 01-25-2015

I would've hoped that they would just forgot this whole pair-up system but that doesn't seem to be the case... so I suppose that praying for a good old rescue system would just make me look silly.

But I guess I keep praying for magic weapon triangle, old attack speed mechanic (sure, it's probably won't be compelling to lots of people and they hit the jackpot with Awakening that did simple version of it but there are still people who love it... it could be a thing you could turn on/off when starting a new game just like permanent death.. plz give me a reason to LOVE FE again), ballistae... and I guess spreading siege tomes as well instead of just dumping most of them into one chapter... and even then it just looked scary but in reality it didn't do a whole lot unless you got unlucky.

I guess the idea of enemy reinforcements coming before the enemy turn so they can move right away still sound good but if they put in there just for the sake of it like they did with Awakening, just rather not or make it so that reinforcements that come out of those 1x1 stairs and forts would come before enemy turn and those who come outside from the map, would come after.

Idk. I'm guessing that she's important to the story (yay I'm Sherlock) aaaaand I have a REALLY bad feeling that the game can't go more than 5 minutes without reminding you about it... idk.. I'm still quite salty about Awakening and worrying that the series is going more and more towards anime cliches and other bullshit.

Nah, I think it's just a random golem or whatever, possibly replacing dragons. And the weapon was probably new Durandal, you know, effective against these golem dudes.

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - Falaflame - 01-25-2015

Am I the only person that absolutely hates the thought of the ambushing reinforcements (where enemies show up before the enemy phase begins)?

>Oh, a Nino-like character shows up at only level 5, over 20 levels and a promotion behind ALL YOUR OTHER UNITS.
>A random Lv20 myrmidon with a Slim Sword shows up in an unsuspecting fort next to you that you're given absolutely no hints about.
>Nino-like character gets annihilated before she was even born.

I thought that shit died in FE7. I mean seriously.

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - Speedy - IX - 01-26-2015

Ambushing reinforcements were dumb, even when they warned you lol.
I'd actually use the Est character if it's possible to do so xD (tbh though, at least pop them in at lv10-15 with a promo item on the map somewhere)

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - Lyon - 01-27-2015

There's a word for the reinforcements that appear at the beginning of the enemy phase.

Arseholes.

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - Pura - 01-28-2015

I'm just gonna assume they will be punishing the player if they don't rush through the map.

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - Smash Bro - 04-02-2015

We got new info from yesterday's Direct.

The story will center on a conflict among the western Nohr and the eastern Hoshido.

The avatar is the main character in this one. A Nohr noble raised in Hoshido.
The story will have you choose which side to join.
Apparently, joining Hoshido will have you play a more usual FE experience than joining Nohr.

Also, the japanese version will be split in two games. No info on whether or not that will happen in the US and Europe.

I can't see them doing this in the US. I know FE is getting more popular, but it's no pokemon. We'll get one game, choose a path, get the other path for half the price of the game.

RE: ANNOUNCEMENT: New Fire Emblem game announced on 1/14 Nintendo Direct! - Pura - 05-22-2015

Quote:Now, swords and magic will beat axes and bows, axes and bows will beat lances and concealed weapons, and lances and concealed weapons will beat swords and magic. Weapon durability is also going to be removed in Fire Emblem If, so only staves will limit you to a certain number of uses.
Yaaay! I'm totally not excited! ...

Quote:If you get the physical version, the story is pre-chosen based on the hard copy you bought, but you can purchase the other campaign as a discounted DLC. Whether or not you need a new save file to play the additional path hasn't been clarified yet.

In the digital version, you'll choose which path you want to follow when you hit that story point after chapter 6. Making your choice locks out the second campaign unless you purchase it as DLC.
Oookkay... one would assume that Nintendo would like to encourage people to buy digital version over physical but since you would get a discount, physical sounds more tempting.
Sure, you can't choose which way you want to go in physical but looks like you're going to be stuck with the choice you make in digital version... so there's no real benefit from buying digital over physical in that case.
Derptendo didn't really think this one through...

...meh.... well, at least I can hope for good old attack speed mechanic... right? right? RIGHT? I CAN HOPE FOR THE RETURN ON MI' LORD!? All hail GBA FE attack speed mechanic! (pls mister nintendo at least release those games on 3DS i would pay a good money for those).

E: Oh yeah... even tho I'm not really really excited... still probably gonna pick this one unless they have gone full retard with it, which is still unknown or it's limited to new 3DS (at least not anywhere near to the release even it's gonna be next year here in west probs) if there's not a whole lot other games which I would like to get... but knowing how many games Nintendo systems get, it's entirely possible I might be waiting 'till 2017 (unless I happen to see one pretty cheap).
