For Salt! - FETO Edition - Falaflame - 05-16-2014
I'll be posting random skits I've wrote for every time I've participated in battle i felt was stupidly ridiculous. Similar to Mint's rage comics, except I'm not artistically inclined, so all you get is a hand-written story! These battles features either me being salty during or about the battle outcome, or the other player being salty, or both.
Also keep in mind, these battles were rage-inducing, so I will have to remind you that there WILL be profanity in these posts. So if you REALLY mind your virgin eyes reading these posts, don't look ANY further.
Chapter 1: A Great Streak Broken
Falaflame raised his cup up in celebration of the last battle. "Alright, guys, we did well against Blue's team. Let's march forward with another battle!"
Soul and Kyre pumped each other's fists. "I'm down for another one," said Soul, "May my lucky charm keep us undefeated!"
Consumptus shrugged. "We're at Level 11 now. That's how many battles have we not lost?"
Kaishin gave the others a weird look. "Don't get cocky, guys. I don't want to see that outlook flip upside down whenever that streak gets broken."
Mike just popped another mug of whiskey, not even caring what's going on at the tavern. "Does it really matter?"
But the conversation got broken by a battle manager coming to inform the team about something. "Zoryou has joined your battle! Magic Library, 6 units, max level 11."
Falaflame smirked. "Well, he's going against us. Ready your shit, guys!"
Aless scoffed. "Pfft. This'll be no sweat."
Falaflame chipped in, saying, "Doesn't matter to me. All that matters is, you guys are getting your day's work in."
The battle had started. After about 4 turns of dancing, Zoryou left an opening for a two kill first strike.
"That's two kills right there, guys," called out Falaflame. "If we manage to miss one, it's ok. We can get by with 1 dead unit on their end. Just make sure they die!"
Aless moved in to ready up on the first target. "Well, time to seal this battle in the..."

Falaflame covered his face and started muttering. "Shit... well, we're off to a great start... let's kill at least one unit, cuz two kills is now out of the question!"
"On it!" said both Kaishin and Soul at the same time.

Zoryou advanced his units. He surrounded Aless with 3 mages.
"Welp," said Aless.

Zoryou ended his turn. Now, Falaflame has to do something about the mess he's in now.
"Alright, it's still OK. We can still pull this out out of the hat," ordered Falaflame. "Take care of that assailant, and he's got 3 mages against our mystic, Mike! From range! He's left himself open!:
The assailant died easily to the two bow units, Consumptus and Mike. Soul finished him off with no problems.
Soul gained 42 experience points!
Soul leveled up!

"I wouldn't complain if I were you," said Soul sarcastically.
Falaflame ended the turn without the need to heal anyone. The next turn started with 3 units staring right at Consumptus.
"Oh, shit nuggets..." cried Consumptus.

Falaflame smirked. "Now all that's left is the remaining 2 mages! What's the worst that can possibly happen?"
And then, those exact words echo'd in his head all the way until the next few turns.
After retreating and setting his turns up by healing and switching Mike to Aurora, Falaflame prepared his next strike on the Dark Knight.
"Alright, I had you switch to Aurora for this. We're gonna need it, Mike!"

"Don't screw it up this time!" chimed Falaflame.

Another turn of both healers weakened, and another opportunity for Falaflame.
"Hurry it up guys, I'm at 1 HP..." chimed Kyre.
"Mike, for the love of FETO, please perform this simple task and--"

Mike rolled his eyes. "Well, yes I'm blind, but that's entirely a different--"
"Do I need to class change you and put a pair of spectacles on your fucking eyes? Because it appears to me you need them!"
After an enraged Falaflame had Kyre heal and Soul weaken the enemy cleric more, he ended the turn unsatisfied. Meanwhile, Zoryou looked at Falaflame with a confused look. "I'm surprised I'm even lasting this long."
"Well, yeah, because my mystic can't hit the broad side of a barn if he really tried to." chipped Falaflame.
Kyre soon died to a blick. Soul was damaged that same turn, too.

"Great, he's 2HKO'd from here on out..." muttered Falaflame. "These next couple of turns are crucial!"
"Go finish their healer!

Falaflame dug his hands into his face. "You know what, why not?"
Soul shrugged. "I told you, my luck just ran out."
Falaflame threw his feather pen on the ground in disgust, and looks at his two remaining units on field and spoke loudly. "I did not win 885 battles to be thrown into the ground like this because of my team's inability to land a god damn hit when it's fucking needed. Keep in mind, 75% of all those fucking wins didn't come from me curbstomping newbies that don't know any better, they're against people who can hold their damn water. You guys, on the other hand, couldn't hit water if you fell out of a fucking BOAT. So do me a god damn favor, and do your damn job!"
Both units were in complete silence for a moment. Soul finally spoke after about a few minutes. "Well, that's a motivation speech if I've ever heard one..."
Falaflame's turn came back up. He's faced with a 2HKOable Mike and a 1HKOable Soul.
"Well, there's one thing we can do," Falaflame pondered. "Suicide bomb that mage, Soul."

Falaflame was dead silent through most of that turn, thinking to himself, maybe the opponent will attack Mike loaded with a shortbow.
Zoryou didn't.
"Well, I'm not attacking." said Falaflame. "I don't care if this battle goes nowhere.
"With my bad luck, that shortbow would probably hit," said Zoryou. "Want to just leave it at a draw?"
Falaflame sighed. "I guess there's no choice."
Hours later, back at the tavern...
"So, my team, what have we learned today?" asked Falaflame.
"That our greatest enemy is ourselves," answered Consumptus.
"That we really should've won that battle, all odds given," answered Aless.
"That as long as RNs are involved, no strategy is foolproof," answered Kyre
"That I need a class change," answered Mike.
"That I shouldn't rely so much on my lucky charm," answered Soul.
"That RNG is a fucking bitch," answered Kaishin.
Falaflame sat in complete silence from all the answers given to him. "But no matter what excuses we have," said Falaflame, "our streak is over."

Having asked for Fala's permission to abuse this thread for my own selfish purposes, I will be the one to bring you chapter 2 of the new and unimproved FETO comics of salt and all that stuff, now with (kinda a bit random but still) pretty faces
This is one that I could have posted at around April if I had thought of it, but better now than never.
I'll also be working on chapter 3 in a certain someone's stead and hopefully be more consequent than a certain someone *cough*
As for the profanity warning I think I did well on this one, and won't as much in the next one. (oh, that counts as a spoiler? Oops.)

Isaac, Mauv's Dark Knight, second to both Evan and Yui in tankabilityIt was a mistake.
On a fateful day, I made the mistake of choosing to fight in the dreaded Bidoof Castle. And what's more... I decided that it was a really good idea to start from the south. In Bidoof Castle. I should have totally known that even getting the first move, that would mean my army would get pincered by the time we got to the treasure chest. How foolish of myself. I suck as a tactician.
We weren't many turns in when Mauvierre's army was closing in on us from the left side and Falco started pressuring from the right. It was the obvious thing to do for both of them to just pincer my army like that. Both of them managed to pressure me out of my seats on the pillars where I could have been defending if not for having both of them close in on me.
Half a dozen of turns in, Falco makes his own foolish decision of splitting up his army to go after Mauv in the path to the north of my chest while keeping my own units at bay. I felt tempted to kill his armor through the wall with magic but I thought it was better if Mauvierre could take care of that for my own sake as I had enough enemies to take care of already. In hindsight, I realised Yui should have done the deed on her own, but needless to say, it was too late to change things by then. Mauv had his Dark Knight, Mage and Pikeman kill Falco's Knight.

By the next turn both sides were pressuring me too much so I unleashed my army's fury against them. I thought (again, foolishly...) that Yui had enough EXP, so my other mage (myself) would kill Falco's Footman while allowing the frail Ursula to rest so that she isn't exposed to any hits - that's how you properly treat glass cannons after all.

...knew FULL well of the consequences. However, it was pretty much a sacrifice worth making in this situation. After that what was left of the army (which was a lot thanks to my sacrifice, I couldn't say the same if it had been Yui instead...) had to make their own decisions on who to kill. This is the stage of a battle where things become louder and messier. Despite Tim the Monk not having a real advantage against anyone who wasn't an armor in my team, they (glorious generics!) decided to avenge me in a somewhat humiliating way.

And yes, I consider death by Impale to be humiliating because everything should be maxing attack and Tim's STILL wasn't high enough after a level up. Despite Yui's confidence my army seemed to be awaiting Falco's actions nervously. That was actually natural though. After all, Vanessa is still on the field and Falco awaits his opportunity for taking revenge after she had defeated Janine in an earlier spar. It wasn't a matter of more than a few seconds to confirm his actions.
After healing Evan who luckily escaped death last turn, his army closed in on Vanessa, who couldn't get the heal last turn because Yui needed it.

Of course... everyone says that. But this time, WE were occupying the pillars. Evan, who was most definitely the MVP at this stage of the match (keeping in mind Yui's misses so far...), survived for a purpose. After all, he is the only one of Falco's units worthy (well, for the purpose of this battle, at least) of occupying a pillar next to Yui.
Or at least that's what Falco thought.
Yui: "Okay, change of plan, he's obviously ganging up on us now, so let me occupy one of the isolated pillars as a chokepoint and have him suicide on me"
Falco, clearly possessed by Yui's infinite charme, could hardly agree more. However he failed to get all of his units past the pillar which for Yui is an obvious sign of "Fine, I'll do everything myself" - the real question, however, is when.
Both armies changed their plan to just taking formation a bit in front of the aforementioned single pillar and fending off Mauvierre as Falco failed the plan. (Good job, Falco!)

Why was it that he started off going for Evan and then switched to Janine? The dramatic sound of a choir, coupled with war drums and horrific screams echoed around the castle. It doesn't matter whether it affects the battle - such an elaborate signal is simply more awesome than whatever "simple" signal most humans would make use of and also scared the living hell out of every single one of Mauv's units.
Hikari rescues Yui, moves northeast and drops Yui as soon as they're sufficiently far away from the enemy.
Hikari: "My lord, are you alright?"
Yui: "Not even a scratch. I have to take care of my opponents now. If you'll excuse me..."
Yui steps forward again with Hikari behind her.
Yui: "Hey guys, let's play catch!"
"Just surrender, will you? You don't stand a chance against 5 of us. And nobody is making you needlessly draw it out. You can still surrender if you want to and I won't kill you."Yui: "If you really want me to surrender you have to catch me first! See ya!"
Hikari: "Psst... I know you well enough. Some will say it's cowardice, but I know it's an elaborate plan. Spending many years at your side was enlightening, indeed. But we should play that game now."
Yui: "Hihi... let's go."
Thus the game of catch began. Mauvierre actually had a slight advantage as he had a Pegasus Archer and so he decided to send it the other way to try and trap Yui, but she was one step ahead there and approached the Pegasus herself.

Sarisa immediately retreated to where the rest of the army was and what followed was an actual game of catch where Yui, with the help of Hikari's horse, ran away from the army behind them in the outskirts of the castle. Of course, she really just waited to see if she could get in a fortuitous position.
Slippy: "Can you now PLEASE KILL ME?! I am SICK of waiting!!"
Mauvierre: "Oh fine. Sarisa, double-team him with Wander, then take Wander with you to join the rest of the army."

Later in the battle, on one occasion it seemed like the army that is now being led by Isaac had caught up on Yui, but Yui managed to keep a sufficient distance to prevent herself from being swarmed and to allow Hikari to heal her constantly. She also remained close enough to lure Isaac into attacking her.

A battle of attrition followed, where Yui planned on luring Isaac, who was ignorant of the size of her strength, into attacking her and killing him on the next turn. While Isaac took care of being healed the chase was still on and they would lose Yui were they late. At one point Yui and Hikari were on the northwest corner of the castle, with Hikari stationed behind Yui so that, if necessary, she could rescue her Lord in an emergency.
That was when Mauvierre's army had initiated a full frontal assault.
