Chibi Ronia - By SoloWing
Pencil drawing of an older Ronia by Crimea River
Appearance: Ronia has long black hair that goes almost to her rear, and is cut shorter in front and parted, to a point where it covers half of her forehead, these parts going to the side, starting at her widow's peak, which is to the right of the center of her head. The hair there is moved back to behind her ears and lent down, and held into place where it is by two hairpins the same color as her hair, so they are hard to see. This makes her pointed ears easily seen, as well.
Her eyes are rather large, and are a tint or two below red, but definitely not pink. Her nose isn't prominent, and her mouth is rather small, with barely any lips to be seen. Overall, her head is small, just like the rest of her.
Her body is slender, not a whole lot of muscle. She wears an excessively fancy dress, as black as the night, with ribbons on it as well. It's rather poufy on her arms, but tight on her torso, and makes it clear she is completely flat. At the waist, it goes out a bit so as to allow easier movement going down almost to the ground, ribbons on both sides. There is white trim on all the ends as well, and the ribbons are white too. Around her neck is a choker that matches her dress. On her feet are slightly inclined high heels, with laces that criss-cross and show her white stockings. She wears these for formal and leisure times and while traveling.
On raids, however, she doesn't wear such an elaborate getup. She still wears black, but it's much less loose on her arms, and she wears black jeans to cover below her waist, while she wears a long sleeve black shirt for her torso and arms. She still has her hair as it is, however, and the choker is still there. She dislikes these clothes, so she only wears them when she must, though she is quickly getting use to them.
Personality: Ronia is very competative. She wants to be better then she is now, and more importantly, better then other people. She strives to be the best. Her father instilled this desire in her and it has gotten her far. However, there have been reprecussions as well. Due to this line of thought, she thinks of most people as rivals, people she must overcome. She has a hard time making normal friends due to this, and when she does, she often loses them quickly. The only friends Ronia ever seems to be able to keep are those that she has had intimate experiences with. For those people, Ronia doesn't think for a second about being better then them, which is why they are able to survive. They are only a friend to her. If anything though, they become something even more then a friend, and while she is very loyal to begin with, the loyalty she has to these people is unsurpassed.
Ronia sees people as who they are, not what they are. In defense, she is untrusting of everyone at first, but once she gets to know someone, she won't hold anything like race or nationality against them. She does of course use such things when trying to figure someone out and how to deal with them, but she knows better then to assume that someone from a particular place is going to act exactly as most people would expect people from that place are.
Ronia, under the right conditions, can be very confident and aggressive. However, those conditions are very limited. In the most likely situations, Ronia feels greatly out of place. Unless her father is around, she doesn't take being with people who clearly outclass her well. She will most likely in such situations try to not bring any attention onto herself, speaking only when spoken too, and being secluded with anyone she might know who is also there. She fears messing up and getting in trouble, since they are stronger, older, better, then herself. She doesn't like being helpless, which is the driving force behind those actions. However, this forced seclusion stops her from meeting new people, and people seem to note her actions and keep away from her as well.
Ronia admires and loves no one more then her father. She sees him as the best of everything, perfect is almost every way. The only flaw she sees in him is his love of, well, love. However, that is how she came to be, so maybe even that wasn't all bad. Her father loves her exactly the same, and smoothers her with love and affection. Ronia grew accustomed to it, and while it was diminished while on raids, she knew that he still loved her all the same. This has had a negative impact on her, however. When away from her father or others that care about her greatly, she becomes depressed, longing for affection. With the great lack of it during her infantcy and the excessive amounts during childhood so far, she doesn't know how to cope without it. This has caused her to be very dependent on others to keep her going, unable to go off on her own.
As such, Ronia is apt to lonelyness, and crying. This lonelyness nulls her confidence and competativeness, as she forgets such things in search of comfort. The comfort she seeks is most welcome in the form of hugs. Once again due to her father, she associates hugs with affection, protection, and safety. Under extreme stress, she will hug anyone she is close enough to try to feel those effects, not thinking about anything else. If she cannot find comfort anywhere, her worries and fears will quickly eat away at her.
Using logic and reason generally take the raigns when she makes decisions or conclusions. While she is getting better at balancing the two, she favors the most effective means to a solution instead of the ones that take people's feelings and opinions in mind. She is, however, pretty good at reasoning out why people do things, though her childish mind can be easily manipulated. Unlike her father, who is action oriented, Ronia often thinks deeply about things around her, mostly in part because she has little power to change them.
While she keeps it at the back of her mind, Ronia greatly dislikes how she looks. She knows she's cute, and she likes that, but she looks at herself and wishes for more. Why is she so short, so weak? Sure, that increases her evasion and ability to sneak around, but she'd rather be taller at least. More then that though, she looks down, and only sees the floor. She's 21 and is still so flat, was she every going to grow? Her mother was even a prostitute, why was she still completely flat? She's never really talked to anyone about this problem, trying to keep it hidden away. Thoughts of if she is attractice have surfaced though, it's only a matter of time before it escapes. Ronia doesn't know what to think about her mother, but she does know that she never wants to be like her. She doesn't want to be a prostitute, or a person who would just abandon her daughter.
Finally, while she hates admitting it, if the situation demands it, Ronia will know her place. If there is no hope of victory or escape, she will give in. She will instantly become extremely timid and submissive, scared of what might happen if she isn't. Even if she wanted to, she can't force herself to fight back if she sees nothing in it but pain. This has saved her from a lot of it multiple times, but with each time she grows more and more upset. It makes her feel weak, helpless, and she doesn't like it. But she can't act otherwise, the fact is she is weak, and the fear of even more suffering keeps her in check.
Especially recently, Ronia has been especially conflicted about herself. She wants to be strong and confident like her dad, but she's been anything but those two since she left his side. She's been captured and forced into submission multiple times and never put up much of a fight. Who is she? The confident girl that she was at school and with her father or a timid little nestling that can't seem to do anything but get captured and cry?
NOTE: Not done, might need some more fixing up. This is harder then I was expecting it to be...

Biography: Ronia was not planned; her birth was entirely accidental. Her father, Traex Temprestra, was a great captain of a platoon of shipless thieves, and as such he had no wife, no time for it. However, Traex still had needs, and he used whores to fill them, but unbeknownst to him, he impregnated one. It wasn't until he found Ronia on his doorstep did he find that out though, never finding out who was the true mother, and honestly not caring. Traex took her in without question, he could see features of himself in her, he didn't doubt she was his daughter for a second.
So Traex raised her, but he was forced to hire people to take care of her for the first years of her life, he still had to lead his crew in raids on passing ships. For the first few years of Ronia's life, she barely saw anyone but the nurses and maids that took care of her and the house. When Traex was home though, they couldn't be separated. Her father had always wanted a daughter, someone he could actually love and care about. The members of his crew came and went, but his daughter would be with him for years. He spoiled her greatly too, he had so much money from raids that had piled up, and he finally had a reason to use them.
When she finally began to comprehend things at about 7, he decided to take a break from being captain, only joining in on other raids at times. He wanted to raise Ronia himself, and he feared that any more exposure to almost only maids would affect her view on him, something he wanted very much not to happen. There was barely any time when they were separated for years, only when he went on the occasional raid did he leave, and he always brought something special back for her to look forward to. Foreign foods and candy, toys, and he was even able to rescue a cat laguz slave from one of the ships that he gave to her as a pet. Sadly, Ronia wasn't able to keep her for long. It was small at first, but it grew quickly, and he feared it might attack her, and sent it to Gallia where it belonged.
Ronia, all this time, grew spoiled, but loving, at least to her father. She saw everyone else, mostly as scum. The maids that were still around were below her, they were hired help, and she knew it. Traex never tried to discipline her on this either, and simply turned a blind eye. He refused to discipline her, so she got away with everything, and when she went to school, she felt she was above everyone and everything, and no one dared question her, knowing her father.
However, while refusing to discipline her in any way, Traex was able to convince her that at least learning was important and that if she wanted to show all those fools she was better, she should study and train. It was the perfect motivation for her, and she excelled in everything she did. She was the top of her class, and she fought very well for her age and being female. However, many noticed that she didn't grow very much, and by 17, she still looked about 11, when normally it'd be more like 13 or 14.
She was proud of this, however, she kept her youth longer than others, what was bad about that? Ronia was always able to take something bad and reverse it to make herself look better than others. And even though she was short, she was still just as strong as any other raven girl her age, and actually made swifter due to her size.
She graduated that year out of her school, and Traex decided, with her determination, that she might just be able to carry out his legacy as a great platoon captain in raids. He returned to the job, taking on Ronia as his apprentice. It was a bit hard for him to find people to join his crew at this point, however. He'd been off for years; many of his best contacts had been slain under the command of foolish captains, or refused to join back with his daughter there, being superstitious.
He eventually got a crew to follow him again after a few months, and began to go on raids. Ronia held back at first, simply watching from a great distance to see how it worked. She was very confident that once she studied enough, she would be great on the raids. She knew she couldn't match up against the others in raw strength, but many of them were sluggish compared to her, she would be an asset, she was sure of it.
Flying next to her father, after about a month of watching, she was going on her first real raid. She was confident, she was smart and fast, and her father was the same, plus strong, nothing could happen. However, this wasn't going to go according to plan. As they neared the targeted ship, arrows zipping at them, easily dodged by everyone, there was a blast of a horrible sound. She had no idea what it was, but it hurt, and she was forced out of her raven form, and into her frail beorc body. She could hear screams and splashes as the fellow ravens in the platoon were shot down before even getting to the boat.
She was able to open her eyes, and saw an archer, aiming right at her. Her father was nowhere to be found, they had been separated. She was horrified, all the studying and hard work she had put into this, was going to be shot down in her first mission. She began to cry, unable to move her body due to the painful song. However, it suddenly stopped, and another began, but it wasn't aimed at her, though it still immobilized her. The archer, however, began to convulse, as if in pain, and then she saw wings, someone had gotten in between her and the beorc.
She expected her father, but when she spoke that, and looked up, she realized she was wrong, but could still not place who it was. It was no one from the platoon, and it wasn't even any laguz she had seen before. The mysterious laguz was able to stop the beorc attack, and Traex came over, untransformed as well. She flew quickly to him, hugging him, crying. He was bleeding, two arrows had hit him, which is why he hadn't be able to save her himself. He was crying too as he thanked the man, who introduced himself as Matthias. Traex called off the raid, the remaining men in the platoon retreating, and Matthias coming with them.
Many of the people left the team that day; they had lost many, and gained nothing, all because of the girl they didn't want to bring in the first place. Traex was about to give up on piracy after this, he almost lost his only daughter, the one person he truly cared about. However, Ronia and Matthias got him to return after a while. Ronia wasn't going to just give up, that wasn't how she worked, and her father wasn't going to stop her.
So Traex formed another platoon, which was very successful. With Matthias' powers, they rarely lost anyone and victories were quick and decisive, with Ronia playing increasingly bigger roles in them. Matthias and Ronia grew attached to each other. He taught her things that her father never did, and actually reprimanded her at time, which she was not use to hearing from people she actually respected. He even punished her a few times, but for the most part, he was just like her dad, spoiling her as well.
For three years they did this, Ronia was quickly gaining experience, and with Matthias' help, she was learning how to properly behave, though she only did it when she was trying to impress people or to show that she was better than others, which wasn't too often, as she rarely felt it was necessary to show it when it was so obvious, and her trying to impress others was even rarer. As far as she was concerned, there was her father, Matthias, and everyone else who was below all three of them. However, she slow aging was getting to her, only Traex and Matthias knew, but she was getting self-conscious a bit about it, especially about how her chest wasn't growing at all.

Ronia's first job away from her father, Good Will Pirates, ended in absolute failure. The raiding party was slaughtered and Matthias and Ronia were both captured as slaves. However, it wasn't all bad; she made the first friend she ever had in Eryne, and they both helped each other get through the horrible ordeal intact.
Once back home, Matthias had to recover from an injury from a fight with dragons during their escape and Eryne had to do her duty as the Queen's Eyes, and Ronia couldn't tag along with that. Once Eryne was back though, Eryne invited Ronia to join The Shipless Pirates, though it didn't go so well either. Ronia was uncomfortable with everyone and even the raid came up with nothing.
With another spell of Eryne being busy, Ronia went out with her father on a few raids, but nothing big. It wasn't until Haven't We Met Before? that anything really happened. Ronia was happy to be with Eryne again, even if Tarsus was along too. However, things did not go well, as they all almost died at the hands of the Warhawks, who have a grudge against Eryne. They survive only on what Ronia believes is Eryne's half-brother's brotherly love for a long lost sister, though the truth behind that is unknown. After recovering, Eryne disappeared, and Ronia went back to her house to wait for her in thought and despair.
