The Village of Schaufel, rural Impossa, Daein
Summer of the year 746

Schaufel was a small farming community, containing little more than two hundred souls in both the village proper and the surrounding farmland. It was unremarkable, unimportant and not widely known. Only the most comprehensive of maps even bothered to note its existence, and even then, with the tiniest of dots imaginable. The actual village was, as could be expected, rather quaint, composed of a few shops, some townhouses and a slightly less than modestly sized inn.

Red, a young girl - she couldn't be any older than fourteen or fifteen - sat on a roughly carved bench outside the general store with an air of despair and worry about her. Townsfolk walking by cast her looks of sympathy, or in some cases, mistrust. She wasn't one of them; not belonging to any of the true Schaufel families.

The unremarkable looking brown haired girl lived in the middle of the woods, alone with no one but her aging grandmother who everyone knew was a witch. That forest was cursed, after all. Who else would make a house there? There were some in the town who just wished that the girl would go away. Where she went, they didn't particularly care.

Flinching away from a particularly harsh look, the girl toyed with the fabric of the cheerfully bright, red cloak she wore over her plain blue dress. Beside her on the bench was a large wicker basket, its contents bundled snuggly up in a crisp, white cloth.

She lifted her eyes to stare forlornly at the trees peaking up over the rooftops of the village. What was grandma doing? Was she alright? Was she worrying about her? A terribly thought struck her. What if that great, horrid sub-human had eaten her? Red shuddered at the memory of the big, black beast. She had never run so fast in her life! She knew a little bit of Fire magic, but it was nowhere near enough to make her willing to go back into the forest alone.

She needed help. Red needed someone to help her desperately, but so far it didn't look like anyone was going to. It was all just too much for her. The girl bowed her head, and began to cry softly to herself.

Cassandra Hemmelschraft's raven hair was tossed gently by a light breeze as she swooped through the sky on the back of her almost-cyan scaled wyvern, Exodus. She knew they were flying slightly against the wind, and she wondered how tired her flying mount was. The loyal, yet prideful wyvern would never stop for a rest of his own free will while Cassandra rode him, and Cassandra resolved to give him a break soon. Unfortunately, the landscape below was covered in thick, dense forest. She could probably manage such a landing, but it would certainly be uncomfortable, and quite possibly dangerous. Ashera knew what sorts of trouble one could find in these dark woods. Besides, just over the horizon she could see what appeared to be a vast expanse of farmland. Leaning forward, she stroked Exodus' muscular, sleek neck and whispered, "It won't be long now, partner. We'll rest soon, OK?" A barely audible croon was the reply.

Sucking in a breath of fresh air, Cassandra exhaled happily and beamed. It was nice to be back in Impossa, for a change. In fact, if her sense of direction wasn't failing her, she wasn't that far from Krausberg, her home village. She was not about to change direction and stop for a visit, though, knowing she would probably be forced to endure a tongue-lashing from her concerned older brother, Heinz. In fact, Cassandra hadn't been to Krausberg ever since she had departed to become a mercenary. The money she sent to support Krausberg was delivered by a special courier service, and Cassandra had taken great steps to ensure that none a single gold piece was embezzled or lost before it reached its' destination.

As the duo cleared the edge of the forest, Cassandra spotted a small settlement just up ahead. "Ah, what good fortune!" she exclaimed, and she lightly pressed Exodus' neck, urging him to fly lower. He did so, and Cassandra noted the settlement really was small, all of it's buildings clearly lacking in size and structure. Truthfully, it was only in tiny communities such as this that Cassandra ever felt truly at peace. She recalled the one time she had been to Nevassa. She had been fascinated by the size and grandeur of the capital, but she had been equally repulsed by the incredible wealth disparity and number of homeless people that wandered the street. In Krausberg everyone was equally poor, but at least everyone had a home and family to depend upon. Plus, villages like this had a penchant for being places for potential employment, always having their own little problems.

...And maybe, just maybe, there was the off chance the village would have a clue to the whereabouts of Verner von Kesselheim, the arms dealer responsible for her crippled right leg.

Exodus executed a graceful landing at Cassandra's behest, touching down just outside the village. As if on cue, a shoddily dressed man exited a small guardhouse and accosted Cassandra.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold! What is your buisness, woman?"

Cassandra threw her hands up in a gesture of surrender and answered,

"Peace! I mean you no evil intent. I'm just a passing mercenary, and I wish to enter your fair town."

"Dismount, and you may enter."

Cassandra darted a quick glance at the crutches strapped to Exodus' flanks, before returning her attention to the man.

"Ummm... I don't think I will." she said.

"Lady, you can't just saunter in on that beast!"

Cassandra frowned at this remark.

"He's not a beast! He behaves himself better than most adults, in fact!" She blurted out, growing impatient. "Look... I'll even turn over my axe if you'll let me enter. That's should prevent any problems, right?"

Before the startled guard could respond, Cassandra retrieved her deck of cards from a saddlebag.

"Or how about a game? You win, I leave, I win, I enter. Sound fair?"

By now, a small crowd of townsfolk had gathered to peer at the majestic wyvern, its' yellow eyes locked on the persistent guard, seemingly waiting for the order to devour him. Luckily, it didn't come to that. The guard let out an exasperated sigh, weighing the amount of effort he would have to put in to dissuading Cassandra, as opposed to the risk of simply letting her in. Finally he looked up and said,

"Go on in, and keep your weapons and wyvern. Just don't cause any mischief, or you'll answer to our laws."
Stepping aside, he added in a more pleasant tone: "Welcome to Schaufel."

Cassandra nodded, patted Exodus on the head, and hung on as the wyvern plodded forward into the town. The two drew many incredulous looks as Exodus paraded around the streets, but Cassandra paid no heed. Somewhere in this town there had to be someone who needed something done, and it was up to her to find them. But where to start?

Anar was rudely awoken by the wheel of the wagon hitting a rut in the worn, dirt path. Anar blinked groggily, looking around at the familiar faces of the other passengers of the wagon. All of them were care-worn. Soft wrinkles appeared in the women's cheeks, and wisps of hair floated carelessly in front of their eyes. The children were dirt-covered, and their hair a mess. Finally, the men had stubble growing, and had a fine layer of dust on any open skin, much like another layer of skin. Anar was still pleased that the wagon driver had allowed him a ride to one of the remote villages to Daein. Sure, Nevassa was bigger, but Anar had had enough time in the city and wanted to experience life in a hamlet. Anar sighed, thankful for his military leave. Within seconds, Anar was asleep, his vision permeated by that of a dream.

He was alone. In an empty room. There was nothing in this room except a chair and a table. Anar had this dream before. He knew what to do. He sat down in the chair, and waited. It wasn't long. She appeared in the time of a couple miutes. Her skin was the colour of milk, her eyes an unexpressive black. Her dark hair was lank, and fell in front of her eyes. Her dress was exquisitely complicated, and Anar didn't bother to try and count the folds in the fabric. She looked around the room, slowly, cautiously, before sitting down.

"Do you remember who I am?" She asked, her voice pure and reverberant.

"Yes." Anar whispered.

"Then you know that I shall see you soon. The contagion still spreads through you." She continued.

"But why?" Anar asked cautiously, "Why have you chosen me?"

The woman hardened, and her eyes began to slowly fade to a red colour.

"Do not ask me of my ways!" She yelled, forgetting their presence, "All you need to know is to wake up!"

"Wake up? Anar thought.

"Wake up! We're in Schaufel! Last stop!" the wagon rider chuckled.

Anar groaned and grabbed his head. The same dream, the same sick feeling in his stomach when he woke up. Was it true? Anar groaned again and reached into his pocket, grabbing a few coins.

"Thank you very much for the ride, sir." Anar said while handing the coin to the driver, and quickly walking off before the man could protest. Anar was trying to remember the past events of the dreams. Anar closed his eyes, about to enter that special concentration state he went into. Suddenly a commotion grabbed his intention. Anar opened his eyes, ruefully, and looked on in the direction of what seemed to be a wyvern rider trying to enter the village. Anar sighed and walked on. Some people. As he was walking, a small sound grabbed his notice. Anar turned his head and saw a small girl, no more than sixteen, was crying. Anar instantly felt sympathy for her. Anar walked over to her, and sat down beside her.

"What's wrong?" Anar asked, hopefully in a way that didn't make him sound creepy or unsympathetic.

Calista walked on, eyes downcast she hummed to herself and her shady companion, keeping him in her thrall. Wandering... She couldn't understand how people led their lives stationary... in one place. Then again she had lived at least a beorc lifespan in one place... in her home... it felt cold and desolate now, and she found she couldn't stay long without the warmth that Henri and Caloa had brought. Ah, but the past is just that... all she had known had passed her by, Calista remaining perfectly as the 20-odd year old she had been for the past century or so, she was now much older than any beorc she had heard of... Turning to her subject she wondered whether to compel him to return home or send him so far into the forest that he would die, she decided on coercing him home to confess his crimes, his mind was an easy one for her to manipulate, the evil characters always are... though that probably has to do with the little amount of moral dilemma involved in controlling them. She took her pack of him and walked on alone as he headed for his home town which was just over half a days walk away.

140 years and counting and she still was youthful in appearance... so she wandered from town to town selling her skills for coin which she just threw into the vault when she returned home, a whole room full of luxuries yet Calista was brought up by modest people who did not agree with the ostentatious lifestyle of many wealthy families. Never could one say Calista looked poor, apart from 'underfed' appearance, she always wore nice clean clothing and bathed in excess. Her senses couldn't tolerate anything in excess, be it sunlight, noise, spiced foods or heavy packs, this is why Calista carried minimal supplies, a change of clothing or two and soaps for bathing along with some water and minimal rations, she could usually find something around to eat, her age had brought her one thing and that was experience. Other than her vegetarian diet, Calista could not be easily placed as a Heron, her wings, amputated long ago out of necessity showed the most minimal scarring, easily passable as prominent shoulder blades.

She raised her eyes as she heard the noise of a near village, she stopped humming... as of late she had taken to humming her Seid to herself, leading to bad occurrences around her, some comical, others of a much darker sort. Looking up she saw the village, nothing too different from any of the other Daein villages she had seen, somewhat smaller than the others she had visited though. Asking a nearby citizen for it's name, Calista marked with perfect accuracy the town of Schaufel on her map that ever increased in detail. Calista was not often questioned upon entering towns, her interesting looks and unique beauty meant she was stared at more than she would have like but her frail build suggested she could do no harm... If only they knew. Entering unquestioned, Calista raised the eyes of boy and man alike, not to mention the glances of envy from women as they quickly grabbed for their husbands. Hearing a lingering cry in the air Calista turned quickly and walked over to it's origin, a small girl beside a man with green hair, Calista immediately thought the worst and her anger raged a the man as she walked over muttering a tune to herself and preparing to disable him if it was necessary, she didn't want to attack pre-emptively however so she aimed her first question at the girl.

Calista's voice almost sang her words as she worked in the slightest magic to take away the coldness people often felt around her, due to her imposing nature.

"Are you okay?", Calista asked, dropping her pack and crouching beside the girl who on closer inspection seemed more a young woman than a child.

Red jumped slightly as somewhat dropped down onto the bench beside her, asking her what was wrong in a strange accent. She looked up, eyes wide at the massive foreigner. He was huge! Despite his gentle words, the Daein girl couldn't help but feel a little intimidated. She opened her mouth to stammer out an explanation, when suddenly she was approached by another stranger.

Looking over, Red suddenly found herself staring into the unusually pale eyes of a very pretty, slightly built young woman. Maybe it was because this one didn't seem like she could snap Red in two nearly as easily as the foreign man could, or just because she was a woman, but she immediately felt much more comfortable with the blonde's concern.

"I'm okay," she said in a shaky, somewhat unconvincing voice, doing her best to appear to be speaking to both of the inquirers at once. "I'm just scared to go back into the forest. I live in there with my grandma, and I just left to buy some groceries and medicine. But..." she stumbled over her words. "But there''s a big, scary sun-human in there, now. He tried to eat me on my way out! So I just really don't want to go back in, and no one here wants to help me, and grandma just really needs her medicine..." Days of stress and worry were obviously getting to her. She sounded about ready to start crying all over again.

Freya was returning home from a goodwill mission to the Daein court when she was passing through the village of Schaufel. It was a small, rural village, and she had gone here knowing she probably wouldn't find any trouble and so could rest up in peace. However, as she rode through the village, it appeared that trouble had found her. Opposite where she was stood there was a bench, and on that bench was a sobbing girl. Knelt down next to the girl was a woman, who appeared to be comforting her, and stood up, there was a rather large man.

'Obviously, he's the culprit!' the lance knight thought to herself, as she rode over.

"Excuse me, miss, what has happened? Has this brute been causing you harm? I will deal with him if he has, in the name of Crimea!"

Freya jumped down off her horse, and grabbed her lance off her back. "Don't struggle, it will only delay the inevitable."

Cassandra was having trouble finding a contract. She refused to enter any of the worn buildings, solely because it meant she would have to dismount and reveal her crippled leg. Instead, she tried asking the citizens of Schaufel if there were any local issues that needed solving. Unfortunately, every townsperson she met shied a respectful distance away from her, clearly intimidated by her wyvern.

"This is going nowhere." She muttered. Exodus gave a snort in response.

Suddenly a loud shout broke her chain of thought. She turned to see a young, scarlet-cloaked girl surrounded by three unsavory characters: A incredibly large, green-haired brute, a frail looking woman with sickeningly pale eyes, and a female knight who seemed quite agitated, swinging a lance to and fro. Cassandra could tell from their dress and mannerisms they were all foreigners, but the young girl was definitely from rural Daein, and seemed to be only a few years younger than Cassandra herself. With her sharp eyesight, Cassandra saw that the girl had been crying recently, and she instantly considered the red-cloaked girl as a possible employer. Was this trio conspiring to harm the girl, or were they trying to steal Cassandra's newly found work? In either case, Cassandra was compelled to act.

However, she knew bursting into the conversation on her wyvern would probably just escalate the situation, so she took things slowly. Easing Exodus forward, Cassandra's hand went to the axe at her belt, her eyes narrowed. Exodus, sensing the tension in the air, bared his teeth and snarled.

"What's all this commotion about? If you're going to fight, don't do it in front of the girl." Cassandra called out calmly, so as not to frighten the girl. Then, her dark blue eyes fell upon the girl and she spoke again in an almost motherly tone.

"Excuse me, miss. you don't have to worry anymore. I'm from around here, and I won't allow any harm to befall you. Come here and tell me what's the matter, I promise my wyvern won't eat you."

Casting an accusing look at the other three, she added, "...And if this lot was trying to hurt you, I'll make them wish they were never born."

Calista shocked at the sudden uprising around her turned toward the commotion, leaving the girl placed protectively behind her, prepared to send a burst of pain to any one of them that dared move, Calista raised her voice authoratively "What on Earth(Tellius)!", her voice came out sounding like velvet, she then attempted to dull the agression in the people surrounding her. She started to whisper a song... Pacify, if all went to plan, Calista would not have to raise her voice loud, and make her Heron nature common knowledge, she planned to disarm them by removing first the intimate knowledge of their weapons, and if necessary the ability for their physical use. Many a time before this spell had worked, blotting the ink of tomes and creating a slick on the handles of weapons, she just hoped that this motely crew surrounding her was not lusting for blood, for if that were the case a mere whisper would not dull their senses enough for them to calm down and rationalize the situation.

Her voice coming out in a melodious flow, Calista weaved a subtle song, the ancient language lingered in the air. She doubted that anyone would've taken much notice of it, however she hoped it had been strong enough to work, if not then she would have to make her nature obvious with a much stronger Seid, one that would force the possible enemies away.

QUOTE
Pacify - Vandalism (+2), Disabling (+3): Total: 5
The targets weapon is rendered useless for a period of time, as well as their knowledge of its use disappearing whilst the melody rings out.

OOC:
You could take it two ways and it was either strong enough to dull the need of a fight or too soft to have any real effect, either way the only one that could have heard what Calista was saying was Red, it would've looked like she was muttering to herself, it wasn't loud though, or at least not enough for anyone to take any real interest/notice.

Suddenly, Red was surrounded by strangers, one of which with a wyvern no less. Her vibrant, brick-red eyes, rather than becoming tearful, turned to open surprise. Wait... were these last two going to start a fight over her? Oh no, she couldn't have that!

"No, no no," she hurriedly assured the two heavily armed looking women. "Nothing like that! I just, well... I need to get back home and get my grandmother her medicine, but, there's this big wolf in the woods now that tried to eat me on the way out, and I'm just afraid to go back in..." Red hoped this would be the last time she would have to repeat this story.

She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but their was something... off about the first young woman's voice. Not unpleasant, but a quality that normally wasn't present when people spoke. It almost seemed to trigger the very limited magical awareness she had managed to acquire in her few short years as a mage. But that just seemed silly.

Anar was panicking, and when Anar panicked, it was not a good thing. Magic flowed through him freely, like a broken dam, and military training had only harnessed his ability to turn fear into rage and rage into fighting styles. Anar was reaching into his pocket to grab Scizora. The knight was obviously delusional, and would require attention first. The wyvern rider could wait. She didn't seem violent in any way. Anar was about to cast when he heard a soft voice. It was barely more than a whisper, but Anar heard it. For some reason, his rage vanished. Anar looked at the strange book he had in his hands. How odd that it be written in the Ancient Tongue! And smeared nonethless! Anar dropped the strange book, whatever evil it held. He then turned to the knight.

"Must we quarrel?" Anar asked. Strange. His voice sounded tranquil, floating, as if there weren't a care in the world.

"Well", said Calista in a light authorative tone, dismissing any other discussion that may have started, she again focused her words upon the girl. "I'd be glad to acompany you through the forest", she turned toward the strangers, "Would any of you care to come too?", Calista had no idea how strong this wolf-thing was out there and although she was prepared to go along with only the girl, the company of others would greatly improve her confidence in the journey ahead.

Picking up the green haired fellows tome Calista dusted it off clearing her throat with a slight cough, and the ink that only a minute ago had smeared the page was perfectly scribed again as she passed it toward the man, "This is yours", she said with a faint hint of arrogance as a smile played on her lips. Calista took a closer look at the people around, she took an imediate dislike to the hot headed nature of the patriotic Crimean cavalier and the arrogance of the young wyvern rider, forgetting for a minute that Calista herself was at present being quite a bossy authorative figure, and only looked a few years older than the adolescent girl she would soon be traveling with, ah well she thought if any of them join this escort i may as well get it out of the way as soon as possible a horrible memory of someone who she had though of as a friend came to mind, and the horror in their belated discovery of her Heron nature. Calista softly shook her head causing her hair to ripple and shimmer slightly in the light, if necessary though she would manipulte the strangers, given her talents in Seid that would be easy enough, she just hopped she didn't have to, the more of her songstress skills that were focussed on the common enemy, this wolf-thing the better it would be for everyone.

She raised her head high, mentally preparing herself for the journey ahead, "Well, when should we set off?" Calista asked of the girl as she raised her small pack and placed the strap across her chest and on her shoulder, hardly considered more than an everyday purse, Calista had enough food tailored to her very specific diet to last her at least a week, she didn't consume much and what she did was high in sugar and carbohydrates, the forest would supply her with anything else she needed, the only preparations for the 'quest' was to fill her waterskin and she would be set.

Anar was daydreaming. He imagined himself on horseback, riding through the plains of Crimea, with a fair lady at his back. Unfortuneately, the fantasy was shattered when the sickly looking girl handed him his tome. Anar wondered why she had it, but decided not to ask questions. Besides, she had just declared that she was going to accompany the young girl through the forest, despite the danger of the wolf laguz. Anar looked around, then decided to speak. Carefully though, the knight still looked like she would put her lance through Anar's chest.

"I'll come to. I know some magic, so I can help out if need be," Anar announced. He then followed behind the woman, his pack jangling merrily as Anar stepped, declaring a new, unknown conflict that had thrust itself at Anar's life...besides that other one.

Cassandra had to suppress her grin of triumph as the scarlet cloaked girl explained her situation. Apparently, a wolf laguz was terrorizing the woods, and the young girl needed to get through. Perfect. This was an excellent chance for a job, and it seemed like it would be easy enough. Outlaws were outlaws, after all, be they sub-human or otherwise. However, before Cassandra could name herself the red cloaked girl's escort, a strange sensation washed over her.

Her grip on the haft of her axe slackened, and her thoughts became increasingly muddled.

"What?! What is this...?" she wondered, fighting to resist the strange influence. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the pale eyed woman was whispering something.

A spell!

Magic. There were few things Cassandra loathed more than the arts of the arcane. Besides being an extreme danger for her and her wyvern, Cassandra held the belief that any task worth doing was worth doing physically, not the easy way out through magic. In particular, Cassandra despised alchemy, but it and magic were much the same thing to her. Ultimately, all they did was cause suffering to its' practitioners and those around them.

As she struggled against this foul sorcery, the green haired man fell under its' control, suddenly becoming calm and submissive. And now, the woman was about to take Cassandra's job!

Breaking free of the spell's hold, Cassandra pointed at the pale-eyed woman and said, in a very threatening way,
"You. I know what you are, witch. I saw you whispering over there! If you've got something to say, say it out loud! Try that again, and I'll bury my axe in your pretty little head, while Exodus here devours the rest of you. And don't steal my contracts..."

With a quick huff, she cooled off and turned once again to the scarlet girl.

"Hey kid, don't listen to her. Me and my wyvern would be honoured to help you get home. We can fly there, yeah? But first, I have to ask you something: Kid, do you know what a mercenary is?"

To aid her persuasive attempt, Cassandra clearly emphasized her Daein accent as she spoke.

Calista roled her eyes as her dislike for the wyvern rider rose quickly into disgust, the mere mention of flying seemed like a personal attack at the wingless Heron, her fury growing as a tear rolled down her cheek. Gaining her composure Calista's voice roilled out in a melodeous flow.

"I am no witch, I am an Heron!" She paused for emphasis and to judge their reactions, affection layered her words so she doubted that she would be attacked plainly for it, however she never could tell if people disliked laguz or not.

"My disability however is far worse than your's cripple!", Calista's tears now flowing freely, her voice was perfused with empathy for the wyvern girl, she subconsiously rubbed a hand to her shoulder, still after 120 years, missing her wings. "Even think about raising your axe my way and you will find yourself in quite a horrifying predicament, im sure you like the limited mobility you have?, if not then gladly threaten me", her realisation at the wyvern riders disability had sparked an empathetic reaction and Calista was no longer antagonistic.

"There is still the matter of money, if it is coin you want, then take it from me for it is something I have in plentiful supply", placing a hand into her bag she took hold of her full purse and shook out a few coins into her bag, just incase she thought, she then tossed the purse, it landed at the wyverns feet.

"Divide that between yourselves... Now can we go, flying would only be a temporary solution, we need to destroy this thing allowing safe passage through the woods", Calista's words were still heavily infused with affection as she didn't plan on making the situation worse for herself, turning toward the forest she beckoned the girl and held out her hand.

Things escalated incredibly quickly-everyone got their hackles up and almost started fighting in the middle of the street. Before Freya could apologise and calm everyone down, there was some music, and suddenly everyone was calm. Freya didn't quite know what had happened, but she just knew she was calm, and no longer wanted to fight. However, apparently it hadn't affected everyone, for the wyvern rider was now having a go at the other woman. The tall man was standing away from it, and Freya knew she had to step in. Personal insults were being thrown at each other, and Freya wouldn't take it:

"Right. Stop it. The both of you. There's a little girl here who needs to see her grandmother, who might be dying, and you two are quarrelling like infants? Grow up. Firstly, you" she pointed at the Heron. "Thank you for defusing the situation with your magic. However, calling her a cripple is not going to help anyone. And you," she pointed at the wyvern rider, "don't call her a witch. She was just trying to help, since we were all getting a bit hot headed. And don't threaten to cave her head in with an axe, either, otherwise you'll have me to deal with. And with me I bring the might of Crimea, alright? Furthermore, who the hell do you think you are, asking this girl whether she knows what a mercenary is? You can't seriously expect her to pay you for escorting her through a forest. If you do expect a payment, then I suggest you seek it elsewhere. Do you have no self-respect or pity?" She picked up the heron's purse, and handed it back to her. "Keep that, nobody's being paid to do this good deed."

Turning to the big man, Freya held out her hand: "Apologies, sir, for thinking you were a brute. My name is Freya Schuyler, and I'm a member of the Crimean Royal Knights. Pleased to meet you, and I will accompany you to help this girl."

She then bent down to speak to her: "Hello little girl, I'm Freya. Myself and this man will accompany you through the forest, will this be helpful? What's your name?"

Straightening up, she turned to the two who she scolded:

"You two. You can come, if you promise to get along. We'll be walking, because we want to eliminate the threat. You can fly above, if you want, wyvern knight. What are your names? And you'll get no payment, you'll be doing it out of the kindness of your heart."
