I'm still reading it, but you told me on AIM to post before NDN Shadow.
It's a good tutorial. |

Anyway, all in all a very good tutorial, and though the stick figure method is kind of strange, since you showed the complete step by step process of stick figure to custom sprite. As I notice there aren't too many good custom sprites out there, I would appreciate it if this was pinned. |

He started reading the topic before you, and we were talking about it in AIM when I noticed you started reading the topic, so I wanted him to be able to post before you if he hadn't noticed. <.< >.> Yeah, I dunno. I think making that tutorial kinda killed me for today. I'll make more sense tomorrow... |

That was great, I feel stupid that I've used that style to draw but not to sprite =/ But hey, my customs follow that suit with the exception of the stick figure >.<

Now if only someone would make a decent GFX tutorial for Gimp. Then we'd be in business. [/offtopic]

I never thought about the whole height thing before. Now that I think about it, it makes your sprites that much better. Dx |

Hmmm... this reminds me of tutorials I've seen for drawing where one first makes a frame with pencil consisting of ovals and whatnot and then goes on from there. Personally, I've NEVER been able to follow one of those successfully, so I have my doubts if I will be able to do so here. However, considering I've been interested in doing custom sprites before, I'll give it a try.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, thanks. Your second tutorial is the FIRST tutorial to ever teach me how to eraser-recolor. Other tutorials made it seem like it was too complicated to be worth my while when the toothbrush at the smallest brush and the bucket would suffice (as well as my ever handy line ^_^). However, your tutorial opened my eyes to how easy and more practical it is. |

Im going to use this for every sprite I do now. Except Ill use photoshop. You see, in PS, there are layers. Layer one could be color, layer 2 the stick figure, and layer 3 the actual sprite. Then, once you are done, you just get rid (delete) both of the bottom two layers (1&2) and use the top, so your sprite is transparent, also. You should try it.

Wow, this is worth trying! Good tutorial. The stick figure method you use is how I draw, but I'm bad at that. Mabey I'll be better at spriting this way.
Edit: I tried it. Didn't work so good for me. |

I could, but I hate spriting in anything but Paint. Anything else overcomplicates it. (And if I did it that way, I'd have layer 1 as stick, layer 2 as outline, layer 3 as color, then merge layers 2 and 3.) |
