Roy may have been a clone but his mechanics were so dramatically different. Marth was one of the best characters in the game and Roy was garbage. It was nice to see him so different in PM, but even then he had issues (so fucking heavy).
If they want to go the full nine yards, they should have Zack as an alternate. And while they are at it, maybe add Chrom as a different skin to Ike ala the Koopa Kids, instead of just the Chrom color scheme.
Speculation is that he was added due to the FF7 remake, and its potentially showing up on a Nintendo system. He was also the teaser to another Smash Bros announcement next month...so who knows what else Sakurai has up his sleeves. Ryu was one thing. But adding Cloud means anything is possible.
Technically, they can legitimately add him based on the rules they set up before: Cloud Strife was in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and (unless I'm wrong) Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (he was a secret character), both of which were for the GBA (all hail the GBA!).

As would many others. Unfortunately, Cloud, whiny bastard he's portrayed as, somehow is more popular. Probably has something to do with Advent Children, if I were to hazard a guess.

Well, if Cloud, a character from a series owned by Square-Enix, a company that has had a massive love-hate relationship with Nintendo over the years (with more in the favor of hate), can get in, Isaac, or hell, even Felix has 10x the chance to be in Smash Bros.

No, no they don't. Golden Sun/TLA were two of the greatest games of all time, but were not massively popular like FF7. FF7 is getting remade and there is a new FF game coming out for the 3DS in a few months. Golden Sun has been completely quiet since Dark Dawn and was never hugely popular. As much as I loved them and would love to see them in Smash, I would say it's extremely unlikely.
Also Andy, Cloud was not in FFTA. He was a secret character in the original FFT, which was on the Playstation.

Isaac was an Assist Trophy in Brawl but was absent in the new Smash game, which makes me think they were keeping him shelved as a possible character instead of an Assist Trophy. I would love to see Isaac in the game as Golden Sun is one my favorite RPG series of all time.
I too would like to see Banjo-Kazooie show up, and I would be surprised if the pair doesn't at some point.
All that Corrin hate. Almost everywhere I look, people are hating on Corrin. I see some people on Serenes Forest saying that they would have preferred Hector or Ephraim. There was no way in hell they'd dig that far back with Fates over the horizon. Plus, it's on of the few Nintendo series represented that has a different cast of characters almost consistently.
Bayonetta is a really good choice. It was hard to tell, but I was seeing a lot of exposed skin with some of her attacks. That detail makes it even harder to believe Nintendo okayed it.
I actually agree, I love the addition of Corrin, but the VAs were kinda meh....Sakura's was okay, Ryouma and Xander sounded identical and I couldn't tell which was talking once the moves were being showcased and Elise's VA disappointed me so
