Name: Wolfram Caron
Age: 39
Gender: Male
Nation/Allegiance: Etruria/Shad Hyperion
Appearance/Description: Wolfram has short black hair which matches his black goatee. His body is frail and sickly in appearance due to his excessive research and study. He has bags under his slightly sunken in black eyes.

His outfit is a black version of the researcher clothes his mentor wore. Over it is a dark gray cloak he found during his time in Ilia. His cloak had been modified with multiple book-sized pockets on the inside where he keeps his many tomes. He makes him look a bit bigger than he actually is. He wears a leather pauldron over his left shoulder.

Wolfram is a straight forward guy. He has no time for jokes, unless its referencing history or magic in some way. He hates anyone who actively hates education or attempts to disavow history. As such, he also loathes the Church of the Preservation of Sanctity. Their actions actively impede his way of life and attempt to destroy something that is and has been a part of their lives for years.

Bio/Backstory: The Caron family is a long and old one. Supposedly it dates back to the time of the Scouring, or so the family history was written. Several times over the years as the Caron family been considered nobility, but it only ever lasted a generation or two. But there were two constants that stuck from then to now. The Carons were historians and mages.

And Wolfram was no different. Born after their last fall from nobility, Wolfram had no expectations of greatness. His father, Emile, ensured his son knew that this sort of thing happened often to their family. And that most of them didn't enjoy the responsibility that came with the title.

In his early youth, Wolfram was introduced to a man that would become his brother, Daren Hyperion. Daren was a couple years older, but that meant nothing to him. The pair became fast friends and attended studies together. The Hyperions and the Carons were very close families. Most of the Carons served the Hyperions either as advisers, teachers, or historians. Wolfram noticed his older sister Kelsey had became infatuated his friend and suggested to his father that Kelsey be betrothed to Daren. Arron Hyperion, Daren's father, rejected the idea. He wasn't opposed to their marriage, but felt they were too young to make such an arrangement.

When Wolfram's magic began manifesting itself, he was sent to a magic researcher by the named of Robert Schirmer. Over the next eight years, Robert developed Wolfram's skills, helping him master anima magic. He also taught him the basics of light and dark magic. Wolfram quickly neglected the light magic and began to look into dark magic on his own.

After returning to the Hyperion Keep to finish his education as a historian, he learned his sister, who also had become a mage, had married Daren Hyperion. He congratulated the two and began his studies. Over the next couple years, he read and committed to memory almost all of the recorded history in the Keep. He was so absorbed into his studies he didn't even realize he became an uncle a month before his studies ended.

His nephew was a boy named Shadrach. He observed the toddler for a few months, wanting to see if he noticed any magic potential in the boy. His father's side of the family was almost deaf to magic for their entire line of males. But his mother's side was almost embraced by magic for the same length of time. He was curious to see which side of his family won out over the other. But he decided it was way to early to figure it out, and decided to focus himself back on dark magic.

He left the Hyperion Keep when the boy was three to begin his research. He had a singular goal in mind. Manipulate dark magic in a way to manifest the corporeal forms of the deceased. He wanted to summon the dead. He wanted to talk to the dead and learn what he can from their point of view. Imagine finding out what was going through Zelgius mind when he declared war. Or to find out just what was the motivation behind the Black Fang turning rogue. Or finding out who was the mother of the Lycian hero Roy from his father.

And so he researched. For many years he looked into elder magic almost exclusively. A couple times it almost consumed him and put him into a vegetative state. He traveled to Ilia and found the hut of the hermit Niime. Inside he found a treasure trove of dark magic tomes. He turned her hut into his new lab and spent ten years of his life in there. All the history at his finger tips as well as tomes collected or auther by Niime herself. Whenever he needed a break, he practiced his anima magic as a way to help center him from the darkness. Oddly enough there were anima tomes in her hut as well. It was there he learned of her descendants. Three of Niime's sons succumbed to the dark magic, while her last son and his mage wife died young. He left an heir, but Niime has almost nothing written on him other than he was idiot who was just like his father who used anima.

Using his notes in combination with Niime's, he theorized how to best summon a soul from the grave. He couldn't find a way to make them take a physical form, but he could still talk with them. All he'd need was a prized belonging to summon them. He took as much of Niime's texts as he could carry with him out of the mountain range.

When Wolfram returned to Etruria, he found the keep abandoned. It was being guarded by Tyber Fen's men. Curious, he went to Tyber's estate to find out what happened. There he learned of what happened to his sister and her family. There he met a little girl of five that Tyber told him was the only heir to the Hyperion family that could be found. Kelsey died giving birth to her. He learned that there should still be a couple survivors. Maddox Hyperion, the Fiery Wolf, had fled at his brother's behest. Shad and Lennox, Daren and Maddox's sons respectively, were both missing as well.

Wolfram spent the next three years looking for any of them, before coming across the sixteen year old Shadrach Hyperion. He didn't trust him at first, but Shad's opinion changed when he told him things about his family that most don't. He lead him to Tyber and used the opportunity to put his theory to practice. Using Daren's walking stick as a focus, he called forth Daren from beyond to talk with his son. From then on, Wolfram and Shad were inseparable.

Over the next two years, Wolfram helped Shad take back his lands. He also discovered Shad finally had magic potential and taught him magic like Schirmer taught him. After everything was said and done, Shad had united his remaining family and became Lord Shadrach.

Wolfram would begin teaching his niece magic as well. She shown better skill for it than her brother. But then the Church of the Preservation of Sanctity was formed in the new Lycian Empire. Shad had arranged for them to hide in Bern should relations deteriorate.

Within a year, Wolfram and Maria were in Bern, ahead of the Lycian invasion. Half of the household guard with them in Bern. Wolfram knew his place should be at Shad's side, or at the very least fighting for the preservation of magic. Unbeknownst to Shad, Wolfram left their estate armed with determination to tear down this church, just like they tore down the Church of Elimine.
