Maika is a woman of average height with brown hair that extends past her ears. Her eyes are also of a brown shade, with her skin tone also being darker than the usual girl as well. Her body type is more on the petite side, though this isn't that noticeable due to the loose fitting clothing she tends to wear. She also wears a blue and yellow head scarf for merely style reasons. The reason for her clothing is so she can carry plenty of her product on her person, either for selling or survival reasons.

Maika is a woman that considers herself practical and fair, though the truth of the matter is that she can be quite egotistical and very sure of her work. This makes it easy for her to hold grudges against those that consider her products to be less than stellar. She is not one for direct violence, but she has more subtle ways to perform lethal force if need be. That said, she does keep a knife and supplies for small traps on her person when she needs to trap certain fauna for some of her concoctions, which she can use against others if the need arises.

Bio/Backstory: Maika grew up only ever knowing one parent, or at least a person who called himself her parent, in the port city of Badon. Whether the man was her real father or not, Maika was treated well enough and was taught from a young age the man's trade, which was the running and management of a small shop that sold fish caught from the sea, furs from animals, and other items of that nature. The man also had a side business of selling more extravagant items that sometimes came ashore. It was mostly cargo from sunken ships or stuff thrown overboard to prevent pirates from getting a hold of it, but the man and Maika didn't care as long as it was worth money.

When Maika was 10, the two of them came across a chest that came ashore, taking it back to their place and opening shortly thereafter. The contents looked to be the personal effects of some mage, as it had robes, a staff, and several books. The man had no interest in using any of the clothing or items himself, so he intended to sell the whole lot. The two of them didn't keep much of their hauls for themselves, save for essentials. That said, there was one book that caught the young Maika's eye, and she took it for herself, keeping this a secret from her "father". It wasn't a magic book of any sort, but one on the preparation and use of potions, ethers, salves, and other chemical concoctions.

Out of some sense of wanting to strike out on her own and not be tethered by the man's rules, she studied the book so she could eventually set up her own shop and dictate her own products and prices. The first few attempts were...less than successful on the rats she tested on, but once her potions started healing instead of killing said test subjects, she quite suddenly ran off from the shop and set herself up in a different district that her "father" rarely went to, with her now being at the age of 14. It was rough goings at first, but she eventually had a steady stream of customers, especially those of the adventuring sort who would be grateful to her for her products.

As the years passed, she would refine and modify her potions with her own personal touches, letting her earlier successes get to her head. It eventually got to the point that she started charging more and more for her "superior" products, which naturally led to her customers getting angry at the rise of prices for what most saw as cosmetic changes. The truth was that her new line of potions -were- more effective, but Maika's increasing egotism gave people the wrong impression. Seeing the decline in sales didn't make Maika change her tune...instead, it just caused her to just up and leave Badon, thinking that she could get better sales elsewhere.

Some would call her foolish for wanting to hawk her wares in Lycia, what with the Emperor's crackdown on mages and the increase in bandit attacks, but Maika doesn't seem to care. As long as she can find someone to acknowledge the greatness of her products, she doesn't care who buys, whether it be bandit or nobility.
