Lavan is a young man standing at around 5’8” (172.2 cm), and 135 lbs (61.235 kg). His shoulders aren’t too broad, He has short, jet black hair, and hazel colored eyes. His skin is fairly pale, due to his time outside being limited.

He wears more comfortable clothing under it, sticking to a simple cotton tunic, and cotton leggings for his underclothes. He wears dull grey leather boots, which reach up to his calves. He also wears a pair of thin and fingerless grey gloves, to keep his hands at least somewhat clean and not roughed up.

Lavan keeps a fairly standard posture, not having to keep his stance defensive to be alert.

Bio/Backstory:
Lavan was the only child of a gifted healer, and an accomplished armorsmith. Lavan’s father, Alain, was a man devoted to his wife, more than the average man. Some called him a pushover, since he often did whatever it took to bring a smile to Lavan’s mother, Grayce’s face. Grayce didn’t see much of a future for her son in Santaruz. She wanted him to be raised as a healer, so he could carry on her legacy, saving the lives of those who suffered. The perfect place to raise him this way would be in Thria, where the church of St. Elimine was. Exposure to such a church was clearly helpful for someone aspiring to be a healer. It took a lot to convince Alain to move, his business being at a high point, but eventually he agreed.

Lavan was just about two years old by the time his family reached Thria. Grayce and Alain were quick to find a place to settle, and so it began- a life of healing, and devotion to the church. Lavan was a fast learner, his innate affinity for healing helping him, along with his mother’s teaching. By the time Lavan was a teen, his skills with the staff were becoming quite promising. But his ascendance towards being a respected member of the church began to go downhill once his father fell ill. His illness had become terminal, and his passing was soon approaching. Lavan, being quite close to his father, was doing whatever he could to help his father. He prayed every night for his safety, and used any remedy he knew, also trying his hand at curing his father with the staff. All of his work seemed to provide minuscule results. He still never failed to attend church, however.

One day, a strange looking man entered the church, quite randomly. Lavan had never seen the man, but it was clear that he was desperate to be saved. The church did what they could, but it was far too late to save the man. With his death, he left behind a tome even stranger than the man himself. A crazy thought then popped into Lavan’s mind. This could be the solution to his father’s illness. The young man snatched the tome while no one was looking, and kept it to himself, making sure that no one would know he took it. Lavan studied the tome day and night, eventually learning the dark magic tome’s uses for healing. He began memorizing each incantation, and practicing the magic, hoping that this could show promise with saving Lavan’s now unresponsive father. Surprisingly enough, when Lavan tried the tome out on his father late at night, it seemed to work. The staff didn’t seem to help at all, but the dark magic was doing quite well. Alain seemed stronger for the next few days, but it was clear that it was far too late to save him, with the acceptance for dark magic lowering rapidly in Thria, due to Lycian influence beginning to spread to Thria.

Lavan continued his desperate attempts to save his father, dabbling with dark magic, despite knowing of the potential consequences associated with it. With the conversion of St. Elimine’s church to the Church of the Preservation of Sanctity, came the overwhelming hatred for magic, especially dark magic. At the time of the conversion under new Lycian rule, Lavan had become quite fascinated by dark magic, seeing potential in it’s ability to both harm and heal. The church then stated that the practice or use of dark magic was considered heresy. Lavan however was far too into learning dark magic to simply abandon it. The potential with this magic was too much to let go. Lavan wanted to figure out how to manipulate the cycle of life and death, for the betterment of the ones he loved. The extreme hatred towards the magic forced Lavan to leave the church, and his now widowed mother, who was devoted to the church.

He worked on practicing dark magic in secret, knowing very well that if anyone found out, he’d be burnt at the stake for heresy. His view on the church had changed drastically. The church to him was an obstacle in the way of fulfilling his dream, to help society with both dark magic, and through healing magic. He chose to oppose the church, and to fight against it, since the church thought his desire to save one’s life was a crime punishable by death. Thria was nowhere near safe for someone like him, one who practiced with dark magic. ‘Witch hunts’ began happening, hunting down the now secretive and elusive dark magic users.

Lavan wasn’t naive, not anymore. He knew exactly what was happening when he saw the mob move towards his humble home. He immediately took off running, only carrying with him the tome the man had left behind. There was no way that he could outrun the mob forever. A full on hunt for people like him was on, and the church wanted him dead, along with the other dark magic users, who were fleeing as well. He had planned his escape beforehand, in case the people of the church did find out about his use of dark magic somehow, or if they simply suspected him of using it. He planned to escape to Badon, a place where people like him weren’t persecuted, and a place where people came and went. His escape to Badon was tougher than he expected, the Lycian search parties being quite persistent. He had even found himself cornered by one of the smaller parties, his tome being his only option for defense. He tried to negotiate them leaving him be so he wouldn’t have to hurt them, but the party wasn’t having it. When they began their attack, Lavan’s sudden fear spiked a bit on an adrenaline rush. He quickly opened the dark magic tome, frantically shouting the incantation, closing his eyes and looking away after casting the spell. He expected to feel the wrath of the band of hunters, but when he turned around, he saw two of them fleeing, and one lying limp on the ground. His first kill. It was oddly satisfying, especially because he knew he had avenged the deaths of people like himself.

Besides that, Lavan eventually made it to Badon, where he lost his persecutors. Since his escape, Lavan developed a view on society, where those who wished to stunt the progress of ambition are the evil in the world. Now living in Badon, Lavan continues to practice dark magic, and the power of healing with a staff, hoping to master both, to become an expert in life, and death.
